ShiftHands Alternatives

BridgeMind alternatives for running AI coding agents

The main BridgeMind alternatives are Conductor, SanuDesk, Claude Squad, Cursor and ShiftHands. Conductor, SanuDesk and Claude Squad run the same coding agents in parallel, Cursor puts an agent inside an editor, and ShiftHands runs project agents on your Mac that you supervise from a phone. This guide covers BridgeMind at bridgemind.ai, the desktop agent app from BridgeMind LLC.

Click through the real app: projects down the side, a chat per agent, automations that report back, and a browser you can take over. The agents do the typing.

The product you are replacing

BridgeMind at a glance

BridgeMind calls itself "the Agent Super App". It is one desktop window with three modes: Agent for named agents on routines, Code for live terminals over your folders, and a conversation mode called Thread on the website and Chat in the documentation.

Agents it runs
Claude Code, Codex, Cursor Agent, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, Grok Build and other CLIs already on your machine. Each bills through your own account.
Workflow
Split panes of real terminals, with a browser on localhost or a thread docked beside them. Agents can run on a routine.
Platforms
BridgeMind's pricing page lists macOS 14 or later for Apple silicon and Intel Macs, Windows 10 or 11 on x64, and Linux on x86_64. BridgeMind One's documentation lists macOS 26, says Windows is in development and says Linux is unsupported. Confirm the current Mac, Windows and Linux requirements with BridgeMind before choosing it.
Extras
BridgeVoice dictation, BridgeVerse ("your agents, in 3D") and credits for metered features such as voice.
Price
Basic is $20/month, Pro is $50/month and Ultra is $100/month. Basic includes BridgeMind; Pro adds BridgeVoice and BridgeVerse. AI-provider subscriptions and usage are billed separately. No free plan is listed.

Best BridgeMind alternatives

None of these is a one-for-one copy of BridgeMind. Each is included for a different use case, with its main trade-off. The list is not an overall ranking; ShiftHands is our product.

  1. ShiftHandsProject agents on your Mac, answered from your phone

    Our product

An AI agent workspace. Agents are organized by project, each with its own chat, history and model.

    Where it runs
On your own Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer, macOS 13 or later), through the ShiftHands Mac app.
    Best fit
Coding and work agents organized by project, which you check and answer from a browser or phone.
    Difference from BridgeMind
Project-based chats with browser and phone supervision. Flagged command requests can be allowed once or denied. Approval behaviour depends on agent settings; not every file change or send is gated.
    Pricing
Free includes 25 messages a day, one project and three agents. Additional projects are listed under Pro, advertised at $49.99/month or $499/year. Pro checkout is not live; reservations in the app take no payment.

Trade-off Mac only, Apple silicon only. The Mac must stay on with ShiftHands open. Gemini and Grok sign-ins are not available yet.

  2. ConductorParallel coding agents in isolated workspaces

A Mac app that runs Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode agents side by side. Each task gets its own workspace, branch, terminal and diff.

    Where it runs
Local workspaces on your Mac. Pro adds cloud workspaces that keep running when the app is closed.
    Best fit
Developers who split one codebase into parallel tasks, then review the diffs and merge.
    Difference from BridgeMind
Organized around git branches and pull requests, not routines or voice. It needs GitHub sign-in.
    Pricing
Free for local workspaces with your own subscriptions and keys. Pro is $50/month. Teams is listed at $60/user/month and is currently invite-only.

Trade-off The desktop app is macOS-only. Cloud workspaces and mobile access require a paid plan.

  3. SanuDeskA board your agents work from

A desktop app that tiles Claude Code and Codex sessions into a grid, with a Kanban board for every workspace.

    Where it runs
Windows and macOS; the listed Mac download is for Apple silicon. No account is needed to use the free app.
    Best fit
Solo developers who plan work as cards and deploy each card to an agent session.
    Difference from BridgeMind
Starts free. Scheduled agent work (Loops) is the paid part, rather than the whole app.
    Pricing
Free covers workspaces, sessions, boards and dictation. Pro is $19.99 a month, with a $9.99 founder price for the first 50 members.

Trade-off Loops, the recurring automation, needs Pro. No Linux build is listed.

  4. Claude SquadFree and open source, in the terminal

A terminal app that manages several Claude Code, Codex, Gemini and Aider sessions, each in its own git workspace.

    Where it runs
In your terminal, on your own machine. Install it with Homebrew or a shell script.
    Best fit
Developers comfortable in tmux who want parallel agents without another paid app.
    Difference from BridgeMind
A terminal interface for managing isolated agent sessions and reviewing changes, rather than a graphical desktop workspace.
    Pricing
Free and open source under the AGPL-3.0 license.

Trade-off It needs tmux and the GitHub CLI, and the setup is all command line.

  5. CursorAn AI code editor with its own agent

An AI code editor with a built-in agent, a CLI and cloud agents, from Anysphere.

    Where it runs
A desktop editor for macOS, Windows and Linux. Cloud agents run on Cursor's computers.
    Best fit
Developers who want the editor to stay at the center of their coding.
    Difference from BridgeMind
An editor-centred workflow with Cursor's own agent, also available through its CLI and cloud-agent interfaces, rather than a desktop workspace for launching other coding-agent CLIs.
    Pricing
Hobby is free with limited agent requests. Individual Pro is $20 a month.

Away from your desk Remote Control moves the agent loop to the cloud while commands, file edits and tests run on your computer. It requires a supported client, an eligible account and configuration; your computer must remain available.

Trade-off Model use counts against plan limits, and some features, such as Bugbot, bill on usage.

When ShiftHands makes more sense than BridgeMind

ShiftHands fits better when you organize agents by project and want to answer them away from your desk.

ShiftHands

  • You want project-based organisation, with a separate chat, history and model for each agent.
  • You want to check progress and approve commands from a phone browser while the Mac does the work.
  • You want scheduled automations that post a result card back into the agent's chat.
  • You want to try ShiftHands' free one-project plan using your own supported AI subscription or API key.

BridgeMind

BridgeMind may fit better if you prefer live terminal panes, named agents on routines, voice dictation or a docked localhost browser. Confirm its current platform support before choosing it.

How to choose a BridgeMind alternative

  1. Platform

Conductor's desktop app and ShiftHands are Mac only. SanuDesk covers Windows and Mac. Cursor also covers Linux. BridgeMind's website and documentation disagree on platforms, so confirm before choosing.

  2. Workflow

Terminal panes (BridgeMind, Claude Squad), git branches (Conductor), a task board (SanuDesk), an editor (Cursor) or project chats (ShiftHands).

  3. Parallel work

Check whether each agent gets its own git workspace. Conductor and Claude Squad do this by default.

  4. Scheduling

Routines, Loops and automations differ. Check which plan includes them.

  5. Away from your desk

Compare Conductor Pro's mobile app, Cursor's iOS app and Remote Control (cloud agents, or local sessions directed from your phone) and ShiftHands' phone-browser access to agents running on your Mac.

  6. Total cost

Compare the app subscription, any included model allowance, separate provider charges and metered automation or cloud usage. A free app does not necessarily mean free model usage.

Is there a free alternative to BridgeMind?

Yes. Claude Squad is free and open source. Conductor, SanuDesk, Cursor and ShiftHands offer free app plans. ShiftHands' Pro tier is advertised, but paid checkout is not live. Model access and usage limits depend on the product and provider.

What is the best BridgeMind alternative for Mac?

Conductor suits parallel coding tasks on one codebase. ShiftHands suits project-based agents that you supervise from a phone. Both need a Mac.

Is there a BridgeMind alternative for Windows?

SanuDesk runs on Windows and macOS. Cursor runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Do these alternatives work with Claude Code and Codex?

Conductor, SanuDesk, Claude Squad and ShiftHands all work with Claude Code and Codex. Cursor uses its own agent with a choice of models.

Is ShiftHands a direct replacement for BridgeMind?

No, not one-for-one. BridgeMind combines agent, coding and conversation workflows, including routines and terminal panes. ShiftHands organises agents by project, with separate agent chats and browser or phone supervision while the agents run on your Apple-silicon Mac.

Product names belong to their owners. ShiftHands is not affiliated with BridgeMind, Conductor, SanuDesk, Claude Squad or Cursor. Facts and prices were checked on each product's own site on October 5, 2026 and can change.
